With the name of Allah, the most loving & caring, the always loving & caring.

AlhamduliLlah, I started out with this blog only, but I wished to expand and make another site, Through Islam. As time has gone on though, I feel I cannot post to both at an acceptable rate, and so combining them would make it easier for both me, and you the reader.

I am starting the transition inshaAllahu ta’ala, and will post there from now on completely. Existing posts will also be migrated, bi’idhniLlah.

“Indeed Allah Most High does not look at your appearance or forms, rather Allah Most High looks at your heart!”

The Greeting Light on the Tongues, Yet Heavy in Reward

Bismillahi ‘r-Rahmaani ‘r-Raheem,

With the name of Allah, the most loving & caring, the always loving and caring,

A man came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said: “As-Salamu ‘Alaikum (may you be safe from evil)”. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) responded to his greeting and the man sat down. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Ten (meaning the man had earned the merit of ten good acts).”

Another one came and said: “As-Salamu ‘Alaikum wa Rahmatullah (may you be safe from evil, and Mercy of Allah be upon you).” The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) responded to his greeting and the man sat down. Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “Twenty.”

A third one came and said: “As-Salamu ‘Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu (may you be safe from evil, and the Mercy of Allah and His Blessings be upon you).”The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) responded to his greeting and the man sat down. Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “Thirty.”

On the Two People Who Will Not Part Without Having All Their Sins Forgiven

Bismillahi ‘r-Rahmaani ‘r-Raheem,

The Prophet (ﷺ) said:

Two Muslims will not meet and shake hands having their sins forgiven them before they separate.

On the One Thing that Allows Us to Believe and Thus Enter Jannah

Bismillahi Rahmaani Raheem,

With the name of Allah, the most loving & caring, the always loving and caring,

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said,

“By Him in Whose Hand is my life! You will not enter Jannah until you believe, and you will not believe until you love one another.

Shall I inform you of something which, if you do, you will love one another? Promote greetings amongst yourselves.”

What a greeting is the salam! Any greeting, from a person you know or even do not, has such power to create unity, a bond, and just make one feel great. The salam is all that to an even greater extent, and much more: it unites people stronger as ones who are united in the fulfillment of their purpose; it is a reminder of Allah and our goal; and it is ultimately a most beautiful du’a.

Most greetings are bereft of any meaning, and are ways of filling space and covering awkwardness; whereas the greeting of Allah is light on the tongues, yet heavy on the heart with a meaning that can make even the hardest of hearts cry. And it is even heavier than that in [reward], and [expiation].

Truly, our streets are silent and devoid of the greeting of love and peace. Even sadder is that state of our masjids – quiet and oppressive, due to the absence of the ultimate expression of brotherhood and unity. Let us strive to revive this essential [pillar of faith]

Riyada ‘s-Salahin: Hadith 848

On the Adab of One Who is Late to Salah, and Its Implications on Our Daily Lives

Bismillahi Rahmaani Raheem,

With the name of Allah, the most loving & caring, the always loving and caring,

The Prophet (ﷺ) said,

When you hear the Iqama, proceed to offer the prayer with calmness and solemnity and do not make haste. And pray whatever you are able to pray and complete whatever you have missed.

The direct message of this hadith is clear and one we must strive to apply, but its implications stretch beyond immediate comprehension: if we are not supposed to rush for salah when we are getting late, the most important thing after shahadah, then what about when we late for something of this dunya?

If we are not supposed to rush even for our Creator, it shows how low everything else is. And we need to learn to reflect that in our daily lives.

I don’t mean to derive any fiqh that we can’t rush for a meeting or whatever, but through this reflection we can understand that even though we shouldn’t rush for the dunya, we sometimes have to because it’s uncompromising. And at the same time, it tells us that although Allah is the only one we should be rushing for, we we don’t have to (and sometimes) shouldn’t because he is the Most Merciful.

Sahih Bukhari: 636

On the Ease of This Deen, and Getting Into Jannah

Bismillahi Rahmaani Raheem,

With the name of Allah, the most loving & caring, the always loving and caring,

I heard Abu Dharr narrating it from the Apostle (ﷺ) that he observed:

Gabriel came to me and gave me the tidings:

“Verily he who died amongst your Ummah without associating anything with Allah would enter Paradise.”

I (the narrator) said:

“Even if he committed adultery and theft?”

He (the Holy Prophet) said:

“(Yes), even if he committed adultery and theft.”

Sahih Muslim: 94 a

On Those Who Will Be Envied by the Prophets & Martyrs on the Day

Bismillahi Rahmaani Raheem,

With the name of Allah, the most loving & caring, the always loving and caring,

Narrated Umar ibn al-Khattab: the Prophet (ﷺ) as saying:

There are people from the servants of Allah who are neither prophets nor martyrs; the prophets and martyrs will envy them on the Day of Resurrection for their rank from Allah, the Most High.

They (the people) asked: Tell us, Messenger of Allah, who are they?

He replied: They are people who love one another for the spirit of Allah (i.e. the Qur’an), without having any mutual kinship and giving property to one. I swear by Allah, their faces will glow and they will be (sitting) in (pulpits of) light. They will have no fear (on the Day) when the people will have fear, and they will not grieve when the people will grieve.

He then recited the following Qur’anic verse: “Behold! Verily for the friends of Allah there is no fear, nor shall they grieve.”

On How to Earn More Wealth & Life in This World

Narrated Abu Huraira:

I heard Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) saying, “Who ever is pleased that he be granted more wealth and that his lease of life be pro longed, then he should keep good relations with his Kith and kin.”

On the Sweetness of Being Close to One’s Lord, and How to Attain that Rank

Bismillahi Rahmaani Raheem,

With the name of Allah, the most loving & caring, the always loving and caring,

“Verily Allah ﷻ has said:

‘Whosoever shows enmity to a wali (friend) of Mine, then I have declared war against him. And My servant does not draw near to Me with anything more loved to Me than the religious duties I have obligated upon him. And My servant continues to draw near to me with nafil (supererogatory) deeds until I Love him.

When I Love him, I am his hearing with which he hears, and his sight with which he sees, and his hand with which he strikes, and his foot with which he walks. Were he to ask [something] of Me, I would surely give it to him; and were he to seek refuge with Me, I would surely grant him refuge.’ ”
